Welcome

What is a DTV Converter?

After February 2009 your old T.V. will need a new way to receive its signal. This converter will allow your old T.V. to receive the new signal.

I have not received my coupon yet, can I still order a converter?

Yes! Converters will be shipped on a first come-first serve basis. After you receive your coupon, you can submit your coupon here and we will ship your converter the following business day.

How do I get a coupon?

You can apply for a coupon by going to this government website: https://www.dtv2009.gov/ApplyCoupon.aspx.

Do I need to buy a new TV?

No, you don’t need to buy a new expensive digital television. The converters that you are purchasing will work with the television sets you currently have, usually increasing the number of free broadcast channels available to you.

I have a cable television subscription; do I need a DTV Converter?

If you subscribe to cable, you usually, but not always get your local stations via your cable. If you move or if you decide to cancel your cable service you will need to have a DTV Converter to receive any free broadcasts. In other words, if you have no paid programming service and no DTV Converter, you will receive no television. Also, if your service is cut off by weather or some other means, you will not be able to watch television without a converter. So, yes you should have at least one DTV Converter in your home.

How much does a Converter cost?

Consumer Electronics Group is selling the converters starting at $59.99 and the Federal Government is helping out with the cost by providing each house hold with two coupons each worth $40.00 towards the purchase of a converter box.

When can I get my converter?

You can order your converter today and as soon as we receive your coupon it will be delivered to your door.

Can I use my coupon to buy a digital T.V.?

No! The government coupon program is for converter boxes only and cannot be applied to other Digital appliances such as digital converters with DVR, or digital televisions.

Do I need one?

YES!

Examples:

  • Do you ever want to receive over the air television again in your life?  The Government is not changing the signal just for a few days, its forever.  Right now they are willing to help you pay for it.  The coupons are for a limited time.  If you don't purchase now you will pay full price later.
  • Do you own a cabin, RV, or hunting camp? Unless you have satellite dish or bring a new digital tv, you will not receive TV signal without a DTV Converter.
  • Have you moved in the past? How long did it take for the cable/satellite to get hooked up? Did you use "Bunny Ear" antenna's? After Feb 17, 2009, you would not be able to do this.
  • Has your cable/satellite gone out in the middle of a storm? Without a new TV or a DTV Converter, you would not be able to watch the local news or shows.
  • Multicast channels. Multicasting is a digital television technology that gives viewers access to additional local broadcast TV channels. Your Satellite/Cable provider is not required to provide these channels. With a DTV Converter you will be view these channels for FREE.

DON'T DELAY! THE GOVERNMENT HAS ONLY ALLOCATED COUPONS FOR ABOUT 10% OF THE US POPULATION.

AFTER THE COUPON PROGRAM IS COMPLETE, YOU WILL NEED TO PAY THE FULL AMOUNT!!!

What advantages does Digital T.V. have?

By getting a converter now and depending on your area you will most likely receive more channels and a clearer picture.

What if I don’t buy a converter and don’t have a digital T.V.?

February 17th, 2009 your T.V. will go to static and never show your favorite shows again until you get a converter.

How many coupons can I get?

Right now the Government is allowing each house hold to receive up to 2 coupons for $40.00 each no matter how many people live in the home, how many T.V.’s you have, or if you have an antenna, cable, or satellite.

Why is the T.V. signal changing?

The government is using the current signal system to upgrade the fire, police, other emergency response systems, and data transfer systems. So in order to continue T.V. viewing the signal must change.
